Welcome to "Pitter From Patty" I'm Patty Marksteiner and this a project for one of my first classes at TCU as a grad student in Environmental Science. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Virginia Tech in 1981. I was a member of the Corps of Cadets and Air Force ROTC for four years. Our corps is very similar to the one at Texas A&M, we are the only two corps within a civilian institution left in the country. I met my husband at Tech, he was in Army ROTC. So began my life of adventure.
I spent close to 16 years in the Air Force before taking early retirement. As a military personnel or services officer, my assignments have taken me to such places as Washington, Louisiana, Okinawa and several places in Texas. While I aimed high my spouse was being all he could be and doing more than most people do all day before 9 am in the Army. He started out in armor and transferred to aviation. After leaving active duty he came to Dallas, TX to be a police officer and has remained with either the Texas Nation Guard or the Army reserves. After 13 years a patrol office and trainer he now flies police helicopters.
While Steve maintained home base, I came and went from the area. I live here now full-time and am pursuing another lifetime interest - ecology. I am a beach baby at heart and intend to move back to a coast and make use of my degree. We intend to buy a recreational trawler and travel the intercoastal waterway. In the meantime we dream about owning a helicopter or small plane (need to win the state lottery). We belong to a motorcycle club and travel to various places around the state. I enjoy reading, traveling, hiking and camping. Although, since my husband left the army we only go camping where there is hot water.
