The Durance Route

The Durance Route is the first route put up on Devil's Tower. Here is a picture of my brother, Kevin, leading the first pitch. You'll need a full set of nuts, some larger friends, and plenty of quick-draws and slings.

The aproach is "fun," and a little scary in places. Get there early, this rout is loved by everyone. The day this picture was taken, we started the aproach at 6:00 a.m. Five short pitches (the longest is 80 ft) and a short free climb up the "Meadows" and you'll be happy you started so early.

The "Meadows Rapell" is the easiest way off the summit. Three double-rope rapells to the bottom. Enjoy!
