Objectives & Goals:

The objective of the course is to provide you with the knowledge and hands-on skills required to process remotely sensed imagery.

The class will organized according to one lecture class per week (expect this to be on Mondays), followed by laboratory work the rest of the week.   Regular exercises will be given so that you get practice on image processing techniques.   All homework should be turned in on the course website, due on or before mid-night of the deadline.   No late homework will be taken.   You can either use your own data, or a project will be assigned during the final two weeks of the course.

Schedule:

Week – 1: File Formats and Image Processing software (intro to ENVI)

Week – 2: Geometric and radiometric correction

Week – 3: Histograms, Image statistics, and data fusions

Week – 4: Spatial filters & transforms (NDVI, SAVI, PCA, Eigen values, tasseled cap)

Week – 5: Supervised and Unsupervised Classification, Accuracy assessment
